Oleksiy Arestovich, a former adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said that after the end of the conflict, the Ukrainian side could repeat the “Korean scenario”.
He noted that the way out of the conflict may not be as it was thought six or three months ago. According to Arestovich, the “two Koreas” option is now possible.
“What should the West do? In the remaining part, it is necessary to do South Korea. That means we’re talking about guarantees because South Korea has guarantees,” Arestovich was quoted by the Strana.ua edition.
In the 1950-1953 Korean War, an armistice, not a peace treaty, was signed. After that, the peninsula was divided in two, the demilitarized zone stretches along the 38th parallel.
Dmitry Suslov, former Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Center for European and International Studies, Faculty of World Economy and International Relations, National Research University Higher School of Economics declarationthat an armistice and its subsequent freezing could become a realistic scenario for the development of the conflict in Ukraine.
