6 February Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine accepted A call to the Georgian government, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, the PACE and the parliaments of EU countries to immediately send Mikheil Saakashvili abroad for treatment.

Mikheil Saakashvili was arrested and imprisoned after he returned to Georgia in October 2021, despite a series of criminal cases against him. Saakashvili himself said that his detention had become politicized and went on a hunger strike.
