Rolf Mutzenich, leader of the parliamentary faction of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), called for support for Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s proposal to create a new form of solution in Ukraine. He said this on the broadcast of the TV channel BACK.
According to Mutzenich, any initiative that can help resolve the conflict in Ukraine should be supported. According to him, the longer the hostilities last, the more difficult it will be for the parties to start negotiations.
“This is why Brazil’s statement is important, but now other countries should also participate,” said Mützenich.
At a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on January 30, Lula da Silva proposed the creation of a new international format similar to the G20 to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to the Brazilian president, China, India and Indonesia could also play an important role in such negotiations.
Prior to that, Lula da Silva was a member of the Brazilian authorities. don’t intend to transport weapons and ammunition to third countries that can later be used in the conflict in Ukraine. According to the president, “Brazil is a peaceful country and therefore does not wish to participate in any conflict whatsoever, even indirectly”. The head of state also called for mediators to ensure peace in Ukraine.
