Myanmar’s National Defense and Security Council has extended the powers of the country’s leader, Min Aung Hlain, for another six months, on the second anniversary of the military’s return to power. DEA News.
Local television reported, “According to Article 419 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, all the powers of the government have been reassigned to the Chairman of the State Administrative Council, the Supreme Commander, Senior General Min Aung Hlein.”
It was noted that the decision was explained by the “failure to bring peace and stability to the normal level in the country”.
The report also states that the state of emergency will be extended for another six months, pursuant to Article 425 of the constitution.
