“I really wonder what would happen if he was a minister,” said Anna Maria Żukowska on Radio Wnet. The MP from the left also commented on Germany’s decision to hand over tanks to Ukraine, Berlin’s weakening international position and the chances of a joint opposition government.
Germany cannot be a guarantee of security
The New Left MP, referring to the German government’s decision not only to agree to the transfer of Leopard tanks from Poland to Ukraine, but also to transfer a company of tanks through Germany, did not hide that it was a forced decision. mainly by Poland. She emphasized that inertia in this matter significantly tarnishes Berlin’s strength and reputation.
If the Germans do not understand that they must be at the forefront to help Ukraine, it will soon become clear that no one in Europe needs German help anymore […] and that Germany cannot be a guarantee of security. […] In this situation, even this moral leadership cannot be assumed. I don’t know why, because they have every opportunity to do that, it’s just because of procrastination. On the contrary, Germany’s position will weaken.
– she said, adding that Germany cannot even take the moral leadership in Europe in this situation.
I don’t know why, because they have every opportunity to do that, it’s just a delay. On the contrary, Germany’s position will weaken
– she said.

The balance of Polish policy towards Ukraine
When asked by editor Jankowski about the balance of the Polish government’s policy towards the war in Ukraine, she admitted that the balance was very good.
We managed to reach a political and national consensus. The issue of aid to Ukraine has not been politicized. We’re not playing PiS against all the other opposition parties, we just agree that we should just help
she admitted.
An army of 300,000?
When asked about the project of building a strong army of 300,000 men in Poland, Żukowska explained the position of the left, which was against mobilization, but not against military training of Poland. She also did not exclude that such training could become compulsory.
We are a frontline state and as we used to say that most of the money spent on the military should be spent on health care, we live in slightly different times. The situation has changed and more money needs to be spent on armaments. […] You must build an efficient army. It is not only about quantity, but also about quality
she explained.
Anna Maria Żukowska was also asked, among other things: about how the left imagines cooperation with Ukraine after winning the war, about the common history of Poland and Ukraine, and about the situation in the opposition and the vision to participate together in the elections.
The PO cannot rule alone
Poranek Wnet recalled Donald Tusk’s Tuesday meeting with voters in Siedlce. Tusk noted that the leaders of minor parties have already decided that the election has been won, and as leader of the main opposition party he says this is not true.
Of course, the Civic Platform has the highest support, but it cannot govern alone, because it simply does not have enough support to win the elections on its own. To have a coalition government and a majority in the Sejm, they must form a coalition government. And I hope so. They must overcome four Democratic opposition groups, and Donald Tusk is unlikely to be able to do it alone.
– she said. Referring to the claims of opposition leaders’ belief that they will win future elections, she admitted:
This is Mr. Tusk’s far-reaching fantasy. Everyone is determined and everyone knows that he must fight with great determination. We certainly do not assume that we can rest on our laurels
Żukowska summarized the topic of the common opposition list pushed by the PO in the future elections by recalling the attitude towards PSL and Szymon Hołownia’s party that they are not interested in it.
How much can you talk about the same thing. […] He overestimated the strength of his argument that if he announced it, it would happen.
she asked about Tusk’s efforts.
Sikorski became a hero of Russian propaganda
Anna Maria Żukowska also referred to the words and actions of Radosław Sikorski, which he does not see in the future government:
This is a matter of state reasons. We can joke about different things, there can be more or less happy sayings, but when someone gives weapons to our enemy, the enemy of Ukraine, it is no longer fun. This is a matter of serious politics. Because this is not the first time, but probably the third time that Minister Sikorski has become a hero of Russian propaganda. It’s not too smart. And if somehow this can’t be stopped at the stage where Mr Sikorski is in the opposition, I really wonder what would happen if he were a minister
– the New Left Member of Parliament did not hide.
When Żukowska was reminded that leading PO activists agree with Sikorski’s story that the Morawiecki government allegedly wanted to divide Ukraine hand-in-hand with Putin, Żukowska stated that “just referring to it is an unnecessary cause of international tension”.
This is not a smart way to defend a fellow party member.
she added
Like Sikorski, MP Żukowska decided that there should be no current opposition in the new government – as she put it – “Mr. ‘there is no money and there will be none'”, ie Jan Vincent-Rostowski.
