Any peace plan for Ukraine without the participation of the Russian Federation is “doomed to failure”. According to the news of TASS, this opinion was expressed by the official representative of the President of Turkey, İbrahim Kalın.
“We say that a solution should be developed not only between the leadership of Ukraine and Russia, but also with the participation of the USA and Europe. “No peace plan that does not involve Russia will be successful, it will fail,” he said.
According to him, the parties to the conflict will suffer heavy losses and “get tired of the war” and eventually sit at the negotiating table. At the same time, the European Union and the United States should be involved in the development of a peace plan.
Also, Kalyn said that if “Europe gets bored with war as the conflict drags on”, the European public will announce its reluctance to support the Ukrainians further. He added that he would say that Europe no longer wants to suffer the consequences of the conflict.
“Republicans (representatives of the US Republican Party – socialbites.ca) say that they no longer want to spend money on Ukraine. It is believed that the United States has already done enough. And if you ask the Ukrainians, they’ll probably say they only get one-tenth of the money, weapons, etc. they need to wage this war.
He also urged to analyze the issue of the preconditions of war in order to avoid this in the future.
“We need to examine the events of the last 10 years. NATO enlargement Enlargement did not happen, but this agenda, which provoked Russian backlash, was relevant. It is necessary to analyze the overt and covert actions and reactions to the annexation of Crimea, which led to wider geopolitical conditions,” he said.
Ankara is also upset that it does not see the desire of the world community to create conditions for “serious Russia-Ukraine negotiations”. Kalyn also took responsibility for the first step to the West.
“This will only happen when Russia sees that key Western countries, especially the United States, will make serious moves in the context of this major geopolitical issue. “They will propose a new security architecture that will protect the West, Europe, Russia and Ukraine,” he said.
Finally, he stressed that Western powers should give Russia clear guarantees that Ukraine will not join NATO and attack Ukraine. However, as the world prepares to continue the conflict, it is not yet possible to discuss a peace deal in Ukraine.
“The general climate is such that everyone is calling for war. In such cases, it is difficult not to even talk about taking into account, for example, 10 percent of the Ukraine peace plan, 20 percent of Russia. Nothing will come of this. I’m a little pessimistic about this. But maybe in a month or two the mood will change and we’ll have more luck,” Kalyn said.
Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on January 14 that he found Turkey’s Western restrictions on Russia ineffective.
“They did not change the actions of Russia, and also did not give the Ukrainians the opportunity to achieve a decisive military victory. “Turkey will not participate in sanctions against Russia, as it will harm the Turkish economy more than it does to Russia,” he said.
He also said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine “with the help Kiev will receive from the West” will not be able to exhaust the Russian army and push the Russian Federation to the borders until February 24.
He added that Ankara will continue to seek possible agreements on local ceasefires, de-escalation zones, short-term moratoriums on hostilities and other similar events.
Kalyn also noted that Zelensky’s “peace plan” contains many provisions that Russia “could accept with the right approach”.
On January 12, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow did not share Turkey’s assessment of the “peace plan” proposed by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
It has been repeatedly said that Ankara’s support for this initiative of the Kyiv regime is unlikely to contribute to the search for the most suitable means to achieve peace in Ukraine, this plan is unacceptable for our country.
On January 11, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Moscow was ready for dialogue with Kyiv, but considered it impossible as long as Ukraine had a legal ban on negotiations.
“Achieving our goals through peaceful, political and diplomatic means is definitely the preferred option,” the Kremlin spokesperson said.
At the same time, he added, speaking is “necessary” in conditions where Ukrainian law prohibits the head of state from having any contact with Russia, where Western countries “do not tend to give Kiev any flexibility in this regard.” about hopes for a peaceful solution.
On December 28, Peskov stressed that Ukraine “does not yet have a peace plan”, as Kiev does not take into account “today’s realities”.
“There can be no peace plan for Ukraine that does not take into account today’s realities with the entry of new territories into the Russian Federation. “A plan that ignores the facts cannot be claimed to be peaceful,” he said.
