Paweł Jabłoński referred to the text of the German commentator. The deputy secretary of state remembered Schuster’s scandalous words.
He wrote that Poland is not entitled to compensation from Germany for the Second World War, because – note – during the war only passive attention was paid and no Jews were helped. He actually wrote something like that. I could not believe it
Jablonski said.
Invitation to Poland
He then explained to the German what his compatriots had done in Poland during the occupation and assured him that he would send him an official invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a study trip to Poland.
Dear Mr. Schuster, do you know why we demand compensation from Germany? I will tell you. Because your compatriots killed nearly six million of my compatriots during the war, you plundered the whole country, cultural goods. You destroyed all of Poland. And Germany never paid for it. If you really don’t know this, then I invite you on an educational trip to Poland. I’ll take you to the Warsaw Uprising Museum, for a walk in the footsteps of the Ghetto walls. You will find out what “Żegota” was, who was Irena Sendler who saved thousands of Jewish children. To talk about history, you need to know the basic facts. That is why I am sending you an official invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday. And I hope you will accept this invitation
– assured Pawel Jablonski.
