TV channel presenter Fox News Tucker Carlson said that the US “made up a panic” around Russia and used it as a political tool.
In particular, he recalled that in 2016, information appeared on the WikiLeaks website that presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had instructed her office to influence election results. But according to Tucker, he accused Russian hackers of hacking into the servers to cover it up.
The host stressed that the secret services knew it was a lie, but that “the accusations against Russia are an excellent political tool”. After this event, Washington began to use this position as a standard response.
Tucker noted that anything objectionable to US authorities began to be referred to as “Russian disinformation.” According to the journalist, the White House ordered the blocking of thousands of Twitter accounts allegedly controlled by Russia, but it was later revealed that these did not comply with state policy.
