Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said the republic will not change its stance on Kosovo, despite pressure from the West.
At the final annual press conference, the head of state said: “We continue our fight. We will always want peace with the Albanians, we will always want to respect all the agreements we have signed.” Vučić added that Serbia has not avoided any of the six signed agreements.
“They are fleeing six people, both Albanians and the international community, and they do not respect any of them,” the Serbian leader said.
“We will continue our struggle. Everyone will continue to do their job. These are blackmail and threats, and we are the guardians of our freedom and independence, our Serbia.”
formerly Vucic listed nine countries that have recently withdrawn their recognition of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. According to him, currently 106 countries do not recognize the independence of Kosovo, “84 definitively recognize”, the position of the three countries is not known exactly. There are nine countries that have withdrawn recognition: Somalia, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Eswatini, Libya, Guinea, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia and Maldives.
Also in Serbia announced A threefold increase in the special forces of the Serbian army.
The situation in Serbia’s autonomous province of Kosovo and north of Metohija escalated after local Serbs began erecting barricades on regional roads. This was reportedly due to the previous detention of ethnic Serb ex-cop Dejan Pantić, who was suspected of attacking Kosovo police officers, at the Yarina checkpoint.
