Some of the Rada deputies opposed the deprivation of their powers of representation of the representatives of the so-called “pro-Russian” parties. This was reported on the website of the “Chestno” popular movement.
According to him, 70 Ukrainian parliamentarians refused to sign an appeal to Rada Spokesperson Ruslan Stefanchuk “on the deprivation of powers of deputies elected from banned pro-Russian parties”.
“This was stated as a response to the request of the Chestno movement, a deputy from the Servant of the People faction, Oleg Dundi, who started the signature collection,” the movement’s website said.
According to the report, 96 of the 150 signatures required so far have been collected.
According to Chestno, the Batkivshchyna faction, headed by Yulia Tymoshenko, almost completely refused to sign the initiative, which included putting this issue on the agenda of the next session of the Rada.
Previously on Rada introduced a bill, to ensure that deputies who are representatives of banned parties in Ukraine are deprived of their powers. According to the document, it is desirable that the new norm be applied not only to deputies of the Rada, but also to members of local councils.
Prior to that, the activities of 16 political parties, mostly opposition, were banned on the territory of Ukraine. In particular, the decision of the authorities affected the Opposition Platform – For Life (OPPL), which actively criticized the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for not fulfilling his election promises.
