Bandera was born on January 1, 1909. He was the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which is partly responsible for the genocide of Poles in Volhynia and eastern Lesser Poland. He was awarded the title of “Hero of Ukraine” by the modern Ukrainian state.
Crowds of supporters of the criminal and German collaborator paid tribute to his memory in Ukraine.

The fact that tribute was paid to Bandera caused an emotion on Polish Twitter. The case has been heard by Law and Justice Member of Parliament Kacper Płażyński.
Bandera was the assassin responsible for the genocide of Poland in 1943-44, when UPA troops brutally killed approximately 100,000 Polish civilians. It is extremely surprising that at the moment when Ukrainian friends fight similar beasts themselves, they further glorify them
Plazinski wrote.
Janusz Kowalski of Solidarna Polska remembered the crimes of Ukrainian nationalists.
My grandfather – a soldier of the 1st brigade of the Polish Legions, an officer of the Polish army and a politician of the pre-war PSL formations – lived in Volhynia. Polish hearts bleed when we see references in Ukraine to a criminal against the Polish nation. The crimes of Bandera and the UPA have not yet been brought to justice
– we read in his entry.
Defense24.pl portal editor Bartłomiej Wypartowicz also referred to the case.
Ukraine, you must cut yourself off from this difficult history, do not blind yourself with it. Shukhevych is not a hero either. I will support Ukraine in its struggle for freedom, I will cheer in the fight against the aggressors from Russia, but I cannot close my eyes. Ukraine, I wish you victory and new heroes. The subject is extremely sensitive in Poland and the Russians know very well how to use this kind of “celebration”. This will be grist to the mill for Russian propagandists and trolls for a long time. Really – it wasn’t hard to predict…
