Famous TV presenter, journalist Barbara Walters died in the United States. transmits ABC news. The first female evening newscaster in ABC News history has died at the age of 93, according to the channel.

As noted, Walters joined the channel in the mid-70s of the last century, received 11 Emmy awards and launched The View. The journalist gained particular fame thanks to interviews with American politicians and leaders of other states.

Walters met with American politicians, as well as the first leader of the Russian Federation, Boris Yeltsin. By doing so, he became the first American journalist to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He was honored with a wax portrait of his likeness at Madame Tussauds in New York in 2001 and was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007. After spending 25 years in television, he was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame.
