Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has left the country for the United States. transmits CNN. According to the channel, the politician left just two days before the inauguration of his successor-elected head of state, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who defeated him in October’s presidential election.

“I’m flying, I’ll be back soon,” Bolsonaro told CNN.

As noted, the Brazilian President left for the state of Florida soon after the country’s government issued a decree allowing five officers to accompany him. Authorities were allowed to travel with Bolsonaro from January 1-30, 2023, according to the channel, but it is not yet clear whether the politician plans to return to his hometown during this period.

At the same time, CNN stresses that the politician will likely not be returning for Lula da Silva’s inauguration. From the point of view of the channel’s watchers, Bolsonaro would thus have violated the wordless agreement that the outgoing leaders be present at the inauguration ceremony of the new ones.
