An adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Balažs Orbán said the outcome of the national consultation on sanctions against Russia would empower Budapest to advance the discussion on the review of sanctions. He told the broadcast directory.
According to him, the sanctions have been in effect for 8-10 months, so it is necessary to discuss which ones are reasonable and which ones are meaningless.
1,363 million of the country’s 10 million population participated in the national consultation.

According to the Prime Minister, in 2021 Hungary imported 7 billion Euros worth of energy products and had to pay 17 billion Euros for them in 2022.
Adding that the rising energy prices are pushing the country into a dangerous situation, the Minister stated that “if the Christmas angel decides to lift energy sanctions right now, energy prices will fall in a moment”.
