Generalitat President Ximo Puig announced that Consell will increase the reduction in transportation rates connected to Generalitat to 50% for the entire first period of 2023, thus applying an additional 20% discount. After the meeting, the president announced that in 2023 the Metrovalencia network will be strengthened with actions representing an investment of 67 million euros. In this sense, it has confirmed that the layouts of L11 and L12 and the extension of L12 will be announced to the public in the first quarter.

These projects include the extension of the L10 from Nazaret to Marina de València and Malva-rosa; From L11, which will connect the center and the seaside through the Grau neighborhoods; and the new L12, which will connect the center with four new kilometers of track to the new Fe de Malilla, the reference hospital center and metropolitan area in Valencia. Construction projects will be ready during the summer and tender specifications for the works will be prepared in the second semester.

In addition, Generalitat will offer a 50% discount on season tickets and multi-trip tickets for regional transportation in January 2023.

Free transportation for young people

Ximo Puig stated that “Generalitat is a pioneer in measures to facilitate access to public transportation and in the fight against inflation”, referring to measures such as extending free public transportation for young people up to the age of 19. Announced that until 31 July 2023, the subsidy provided by Generalitat for 50% of urban transport will be extended until the same date, to guarantee free entry for young people aged 30, as well as under 30, to any municipality that wishes. to participate to this extent.

The 50% discount will also be applied to SUMA transport tickets, which for the first time integrate the Metrovalencia, Metrobús, EMT and Renfe public transport of the Valencia metropolitan area on a single card and at the same price. services -Environment.

Likewise, 50% discount will be applied to all TuiN tickets and temporary passes at Metrovalencia. Also in the names of TRAM d’Alacant and Castelló TRAM themselves.

Noting that the reduction in public transport fares has reached 80 percent since the beginning of 2022, Puig underlined Consell’s will to work in this direction to help families at a “complex time” and move forward with its decarbonization goal. He added that this is about continuing “partnership” with institutions to “provide more possibilities for public transport” which is “the future” and “take a step forward” in sustainable mobility.
