Moldovan parliament speaker and leader of the ruling Party for Action and Solidarity, Igor Grosu, said his country could not maintain constitutional neutrality amid the conflict in Ukraine. He said this on the broadcast of the TV channel TV-8
“This is the real moment. We have to choose a side: are we for war or for peace,” said Grosu.
He also emphasized that it is “impossible, unacceptable and unforgivable” to say that Moldova is against violence, impartial, independent and loves everyone. According to Grosu, the country’s administration needs to make a “clear political assessment” of events in Ukraine.
Daniel Voda, Former Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova criticized Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin’s statement that Moldova is in danger of disaster if NATO takes up arms. According to him, Chisinau denies such “threats” of the Russian diplomat.
As the representative of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, the conflict in Ukraine has “dramatic consequences” for the Moldovan side. He also added that against this background, Chisinau has shown solidarity with the allies in overcoming hybrid problems.
