According to 40 percent of Poles, the attitude of their immediate environment towards refugees and immigrants from Ukraine is positive. 20 percent thought it was negative, and 40 percent that indifferent – according to the Social Changes survey for the wPolityce.pl portal. “The percentage of positive opinions is not very high, but that is not surprising, because it is probably because people do not talk about it every day and it is difficult for them to estimate how their neighbors or even family feel about Ukrainians. People tend to talk about other things,” says Prof. Henryk Domański, a sociologist from the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Prof. Henryk Domański emphasizes that Poles see a connection between helping Ukrainians and the war in Ukraine.
People are increasingly seeing this issue as Ukrainians defending our borders. If they hadn’t defended themselves, if we hadn’t helped them, the Russians would have come in here
– points out Prof. Domanski.
Therefore, I do not know what costs to incur, it is worth incurring them, because it is better for the Russians to bomb Kiev, not Warsaw
he adds.
