The Center for Aging temporarily starts at the Elche Technology Campus

The Center for Aging, one of the council’s star projects for the province of Alicante, Ministry of Innovation and Universitiescontinues to progress in its application. For now, it will start its journey temporarily with a physical headquarters located at the Elche Technology Campus. This space will serve to start the first administrative tasks and will be sealed with a lease. A meeting will be held next Tuesday where the first action plan and the signing of the lease agreement will be approved.

The location at the Elche Technology Campus will be temporary and will accelerate the initiation of research to improve living conditions associated with longevity. One of the goals set for itself by the Alicante-based Ministry is to strengthen the brand image of the new centre. He was president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, the one who announced during the general policy debate last year that the Center for Aging would be set up in Elche, not in the city of Alicante, as Consell had initially assured. The organization promoted by Generalitat has the support of the Ministry of Science and Innovation and claims to be a laboratory that centralizes all interdisciplinary work carried out to improve living conditions in view of increasing life expectancy in Spain.

Minister of Innovation and Universities, Josephine Good, chaired the creation of the new Board of Trustees of the Center for Aging last week, replacing the first one created a year ago, with a twelve-month period. Puig is honorary chairman of the Board of Trustees, and its chairman is Minister Bueno. The three designated committees are occupied by Aitana Mas, Consell’s vice president; Health Minister Miguel Mínguez; and María Auxiliadora Jordá, the new regional secretary for Universities.
