At a press conference, the diplomat said that he had met with Iran’s Foreign Minister the previous day, during which he expressed his concerns about the death penalty.
“I talked about the EU sanctions that will be imposed on Iran for humanitarian reasons, as well as Iran’s support for Ukraine,” Borrell said.
According to him, the new sanctions package against Iran will be “very, very harsh”.
