About the USA and Ukraine
The conditions put forward by US President Joe Biden for the Ukraine negotiations are unacceptable for Moscow. This was expressed by the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“Actually what President Biden said: He said that negotiations are possible only after Putin leaves Ukraine. Here’s what he said. He believes this is an indication that Putin is ready for negotiations. It changes the essence. “The United States does not recognize the new region as part of the Russian Federation, and of course this makes it difficult to seek mutual negotiation ground,” Peskov said.
This is how the Kremlin reacted to the words of the owner of the White House after the results of the negotiations with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Washington.
“I have no plans to contact Mr. Putin in the near future. I will choose my words very carefully: I am willing to talk to Putin if he is really interested in finding a way to end the war. He hasn’t done that yet,” Biden said the previous day.
Commenting on the statement from Washington, Peskov noted that the Kremlin is not ready for such conditions, therefore the special military operation in Ukraine will continue.
At the same time, according to the press secretary of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin remains open to negotiations with anyone, if the interests of Russia are taken into account during such negotiations. He remembered that even before the start of the NWO, it was the Russian leader who tried to open negotiations on Ukraine with the United States, NATO and the OSCE, but did not meet with reciprocity.
“The most preferred way to achieve our interests is, of course, by peaceful diplomatic means,” Peskov said.
About the oil price ceiling
The Kremlin declined to comment on the ceiling price for Russian oil, which is currently being discussed by EU countries.
“Actually, we will not comment in any way until these reports, which refer to various sources, are already official. “Let’s wait for this to be an official statement,” Peskov said.
A day ago, some Western media outlets reported, citing sources and the US Treasury Department, that the foreign ministers of EU member states had agreed on a ceiling price of Russian oil of $60 per barrel. The only competitor to such a bar was Poland, which wanted to set a maximum price of $30. According to Reuters, other EU members are now awaiting a final response from Warsaw.
Peskov commented on the situation regarding the lawsuit filed by German Uniper against Gazprom. According to the representative of the president, the Russian company will “defend its interests by all possible means, first of all by legal means.”
On November 30, gas importer Uniper announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Russia’s Gazprom Export company in the international arbitration court. The company, which was previously nationalized by the German state, is seeking compensation for Gazprom Export’s losses in connection with the quantities of gas it has not supplied since June. Uniper estimates damage at €11.6 billion.
About Russian culture
At the World Cup in Qatar, the performance of the song “Katyusha” and the dance of American and British fans did not leave the attention of the Kremlin.
“Let’s call it a match for a match: we’re not participating in the World Cup. But Russian culture in its various manifestations is part of world culture, no matter how much one wants to cancel it, ”Peskov said.
The presidential spokesman also said that Russia is ready to facilitate negotiations between Turkish and Syrian presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Bashar Assad amid an intensifying conflict between Ankara and Damascus.
“There is such potential. You know, President Putin has said many times over the past few years that such contacts are welcome in the name of establishing peace and stability in the region, around Syria and inside Syria, and of course the Russian side is ready for it. Contribute to this in any way possible,” Peskov explained.
Earlier on December 2, Alexander Lavrentyev, the presidential special envoy for Syria, said that Moscow is trying to organize a meeting in Russia between the presidents of Syria and Turkey. At the same time, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov emphasized that the Kremlin did not impose its mediation on the parties.
