Partners hope Compromise crisis won’t hamper renewable energy

Minutes after the dismissal of Pedro Fresco as Ecological Transition general manager was formalized at Consell’s plenary meeting, Vice President Aitana Mas justified her departure by reassuring that Isaura Navarro’s department had conveyed with her the idea that Botànic “wanted to accelerate”. The introduction of “renewable energies” to “up to”. If there is one thing that worries the government’s socialist quota, however, it is that Fresco, who insists on speeding up, assumes the opposite of his march.

Neither the PSPV nor the Presidency intervene in a situation that they say belongs to the exclusive domain of regional Executive Consensus. The sources of the fist and rose party, who say they “respect” the decision of the government partners, say, “We will not go into this.” The only slogan they’ve added is about the advancement of renewable energy, a topic that PSPV has put a lot of emphasis on in recent months, knowing what PSPV means.

In this sense, they think that in the formation led by Ximo Puig, the name change in the department led by Navarro will not create more obstacles. This is why Socialists consider renewable policy to be a crossover issue that affects the whole of Consell, and therefore they are only interested in accelerating governance, not “arguing” with their partners. On the horizon, 452 files are pending, assured by photovoltaic industry employers, and should receive a response from the Environmental Declaration before 25 January.

This date worries Palau. Puig’s messages along these lines have remained steady in recent months. Not only because of the milestone set by the Government for a little over 50 days and which, if not achieved, could lead to a series of demands by developers, but also because the energy transition is a goal required and directly desired by the European Union. It affects the pocket of the citizen through the electricity bill. It is also part of the Manager’s management image. But they are confident that they will arrive on time in the Presidency.

For this, the macro-decree was approved in May and therefore PSPV also rejected the requests for amendments by Compromís and Unides Podem through the Accompanying Act. Those with the fist and the rose agreed to set up the Valencia Energy Agency, but refused to make any changes to the conditions for the approval of photovoltaic projects (such as increasing the decision-making authority of municipal buildings over the implementation of such a facility) because it would add more difficulty to the targets set for January 25.

Speed in the Area

The Ministry of the Region is also involved in the management of renewable resources, especially from the Landscape area. The ministry is in the hands of the Socialists, headed by Rebeca Torró, while the general administration is in the hands of Rosa Pardo of Compromís. This area has become one of the biggest obstacles to the installation of photovoltaic plants due to its impact on the region, something that has caused a lot of internal conflict in this department.

In fact, this department has come to the point of referencing a report from Lawyers in the face of “doubt” about the interpretation of different laws to accelerate renewable energy. In this regard, the Generalitat’s legal services have rejected some of the obstacles Paisaje has put up so far. Generally speaking, they actually came to claim the report, and the Lawyers endorsed themselves in a second document. “I have no doubt that the General Directorate of Landscape will implement what the Lawyers say,” Torró said.

In Unides Podem, they do not evaluate the situation in the Ministry of Agriculture either. But his position is different from that of the Socialists and much closer to that of Compromís. At the Cortes they shared some of the Valencia coalition’s proposals, above all for local autonomy.

Meanwhile, at Compromís, Iniciativa resources regretted turning the rhetoric to renewable energy sources, focusing only on self-consumption, and leaving “all the blank space to PSPV” to advocate for an energy transition from Generalitat-owned photovoltaic plants. Qualification for less than 50 MW. They warn, “If we don’t process them, the macro plants will come with government permission.”
