Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Western states of “literally forcing” Ukraine to continue the military conflict against Russia. It has been reported TASS.

The diplomat reminded that with Russia’s initiative, at the beginning of 2022, the leaders of the member states of the United Nations Security Council confirmed that they cannot be the winning side in a nuclear war, therefore it should never start.

According to Lavrov, the position of the Russian Federation goes further, that is, calls not only not to start such a war, but also to prevent any military conflict between nuclear states, even with the use of conventional weapons.

The minister stressed that the escalation could become uncontrollable.

“The West is literally forcing Ukraine to continue the war against Russia. Lavrov said Moscow is concerned about the rapid evolution of NATO and global security in the context of the West’s war against the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

formerly Lavrov declarationThe culprits of the current situation in Ukraine became the European countries themselves. According to him, Russia has over the years been convinced that it was futile to try to persuade the West to an agreement to ensure universal security without expanding NATO.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for assistance from the heads of the LPR and DPR.
