The reason for the bombing of Ukraine

Vasily Nebenzya spoke at the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, which Kiev demanded after the new Russian bombardment. The permanent representative of the Russian Federation described the attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure as a response to the supply of Western weapons to Kiev.

“We want to emphasize that we hit infrastructure facilities in Ukraine in response to the pumping of Ukraine with Western weapons and Kiev’s reckless calls for military victory over Russia,” Nebenzya said.

According to him, the Ukrainian army threatens the security and territorial integrity of Russia, so one of the goals of military special operations is to undermine its combat capability. The permanent representative noted that hostilities will continue until the Kyiv authorities “take a realistic position, within the framework of negotiations, to try to discuss and solve the problems that forced Moscow to launch the NMD.”

“So far, what we’ve heard from Mr. Zelensky and his associates is no peace readiness at all, but only the language of reckless ultimatums,” the diplomat said.

On the eve of Russia launched another series of missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. As a result, most parts of the country were left without electricity.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that complete or partial power outages occurred in Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Nikolaev, Odessa, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Lvov, Kyiv and Cherkassy and parts of Ukraine. Zaporozhye and Kherson regions controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The ministry explained that the lack of electricity is affecting the heat and water supply. In particular, all nuclear power plants and the majority of thermal and hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine were cut off. His staff had to stop working in emergency mode.

The Department of Energy added that restoration of damaged facilities will take time as working weather conditions – frost and freezing rain – hamper.

After the bombing, there are also interruptions in the work of the railways – ground and metro, water stations and the internet.

Power outages have affected Moldova and self-proclaimed Transnistria, as they are connected to Ukraine by their common power supply systems.

“Russia has left Moldova in the dark We cannot trust a regime that leaves us in the dark and in the cold,” Moldovan President Maia Sandu wrote on her Facebook page (the owner of Meta was recognized as an extremist and banned in Russia).

to blame themselves

At the UN Security Council meeting, Nebenzia said Ukraine itself was responsible for the deaths of civilians and the bullets hitting homes during the Russian bombardment, as it tried to intercept Russian missiles with its air defense.

“Ukrainian users posted photos of missiles hitting residences in Kyiv and Izhgorod on the Internet, and they turned out to be American air defense missiles supplied to Kiev,” the diplomat said.

He urged Western countries to pay attention to this situation. In his opinion, it was the “reckless pumping of Ukraine with weapons” that led to the death of people in the “cities of Ukraine” and in the Donbass.

“Damage to residential buildings and casualties among the civilian population is indeed due to the fault of the Ukrainian air defense, which is located not on the outskirts of cities, but in their very centers. As a result, fragments of missiles or Ukrainian missiles falling out of the way fall on objects not targeted by Russia, ”says the permanent representative of the Russian Federation.

Speaking at a briefing on 16 November, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine has the right to defend itself against Russian bombardment.

“NATO and its NATO allies support Ukraine. We help Ukraine realize its right of self-defense in the UN Charter. Of course, Ukraine has the right to defend itself (military special operation – socialbites.ca) against Russia. And our main priority right now, one of our top priorities, is to provide Ukraine with more air defense systems,” he said.

Condemnation of executions and torture

Nebenzya also said that Russia expects the international community to evaluate the evidence of torture and execution of Russian POWs.

“Last weekend, shocking footage of the execution of unarmed Russian POWs by the Ukrainian army went viral around the world. In an open letter, we urged both the Secretary General and the members of the UN Security Council to demand that Kiev stop the grave violations of international humanitarian law,” the permanent representative of the Russian Federation said.

According to him, some Russian soldiers who had surrendered were hanged, and forensic experts at the LPR concluded that the tops of their ears were cut off and their legs pierced during the life of the deceased prisoners.

“We expect both the international community and international human rights organizations to make principled assessments that Kiev does not comply with its obligations in the field of international humanitarian law,” the diplomat said.
