Young people are destined to become eternal youth. The cliché says they don’t want to leave because they’re so comfortable in their parents’ house, but that’s not true.. They don’t want to liberate themselves because they can’t even think about it. 86% of the youth in the province are in this situation. Of course, the obstacle course, which we are exposed to after criticizing them very lightly, is one of the ones that made them sweat: First they have to read, then they have to enter the job market, and after passing these two tests, their adult life becomes normal. It is impossible to grow without symbolic conditions such as owning your own home. Those who manage to leave the house will face a situation almost below the poverty line when their rent is paid. (we’re not talking about buying a house): If you single-handedly free yourself in a heroic act suitable only for reckless people, 64% of your salary will go to pay for the house; if you go with more people, the hack will be “only” 35%. To be honest, it’s a mystery to understand how they can survive, taking into account the inflation and devaluation of the salaries we are subject to. It is clear that in the end, even when liberated, they cannot sever the umbilical cord with their financially earnest parents. This ordeal certainly doesn’t help living in a city like Alicante, where tourism has increased the rent to such an extent that it’s impossible. Only 20,000 people, or one third of the total, are under the age of 35 in the province living on rent basis. Will the state aid channeled by the Generalitat foreseen by the government in the Reconstruction Plan solve anything? 250 euros per month but less than a stone. Let’s hope managing the benefits isn’t just another stumbling block in the endless gymkhana that your life has become. Then they say it’s easy…

And one more thing:

We may not be doing as fast as the rest of the country in terms of falling unemployment in Alicante, but we are a leader in employment quality: 56% of new hires do so on permanent contracts. A figure 12 points above the national average. to doDoes anyone remember that the government and Yolanda Díaz’s labor market reform that brought this on and saved us from instability was approved because a PP MP made a mistake in voting? This country sometimes laughs and cries at the same time.
