At the beginning of the season, there is a fight to the death among television channels as to who will win. In short, a struggle for audience or sharing; I never understood what this meant, although it undoubtedly had something to do with quantity. The secret to success, it seems, lies in what some call “family television.” Antena 3 has dethroned family television-based Tele 5, and Tele 5 is ready to mix the ingredients until it finds the formula. The phrase “family television” catches my attention. Although it is used in cinema, it is not used in radio, literature or theatre. For example, Santiago Segura states that he makes “family films”. Interestingly, there is another term that is very useful in cinema: auteur. When we say “Auteur cinema” we are talking about a genre. But no one calls it “an author’s novel”. It is a perhaps unfounded assumption that novels always belong to the person who signs them.
