There is rain and thunder in the street. Here in Mallorca and across the country: in Madrid, both in Castillas and in Murcia… Drought has plagued us and we had the wettest May in almost a century. Nothing happens as we think, neither in war nor in peace. The defeat of the left was predicted in regional and municipal elections, but no one knew how to calculate its magnitude yet. The memory of 2011 hangs on the horizon again; but if we pause for a minute and read the results more clearly, neither the PSOE lost that many votes, nor the victory of the opposition in the next general election guaranteed. 130 deputies is the red line that the PP must cross before it can attack Moncloa with guarantees; although now polls dream of other numbers: 140, 150 seats, perhaps this allows Feijóo to minimize Vox’s support. But Pedro Sánchez doesn’t care about any of this. Or yes, although under another prism. Sánchez is already thinking about future generations, the scale that power offers after savoring it. And posterity will not accept the humiliation of a popular defeat or a forced farewell, as was offered to Rodríguez Zapatero.
