During the democratic development of this country, the media system accompanied society on a journey that started from transparency and censorship and embarked on a constant search for the truth that characterizes regimes of freedom. And there were two singular milestones in this already long journey: a) the liberalization of audiovisual in 1988 and the consequent arrival of private television, with the decision of the PSOE and contrary to the view favored by a concerned section of the left. A mixed model similar to the British model and b)- Explosion of ICTs (new information and communication technologies) with the advent of digitalization and internet. Regional television channels and DTT have also enriched the panorama to the point of creating a competitive market which in its last years has also had to accommodate on-demand television platforms.
