For all practical purposes, the new toy is the same as the dizzying momentum of our old-fashioned search engines, achieved not by digital procedures but by injecting them with large doses of amphetamines. More contrived than artificial intelligence, it outsmarts the student who will use it to defraud their teachers. In fact, regardless of the spiral of error dragging down what’s left of civilization, the fire for the new engine coincides with the rise of denialism in the proliferation of people who want to be duped. Because it was not decided whether the conclusions of Chato were right or wrong, it was decided which of the two options was more fun.
