A 70-something woman died after sustaining severe head injuries from a fall during a concert in Sydney last Thursday. She had been in an Australian hospital for four days following the incident, and a spokesperson for St Vincent’s Hospital confirmed to News.com.au that she passed away on Monday while in intensive care.
The hospital source said the woman suffered critical head injuries after slipping and falling in seating that was described as being in the XXV century row, during the first night of a tour stop at Allianz Stadium. Witnesses reported that she attempted to climb over rows of seats rather than using the stairs. A stadium spokesman told the Sydney Morning Herald that she lost her balance and fell, and a team of paramedics treated her at the venue before she was transported to hospital, where she later died.
The incident occurred as the leading performer continued the tour, with no public comment yet issued on social media as the show moved on to Melbourne on the following Wednesday.
In a separate development, a 23-year-old Brazilian woman died from heatstroke in Rio de Janeiro ahead of a Taylor Swift concert. Swift expressed condolences to the family and friends of the affected fans and canceled another show in the city due to extreme temperatures and safety concerns.
