Two sources connected to Russia’s military establishment told TASS that the Arctic variant of the Tor air defense missile system is being deployed in Ukraine alongside Marine Corps units of the Northern Fleet.
It was clarified that Arctic Tor-M2DT systems, the Arctic iteration of the Tor-M2 family, are operating within a designated special operations zone.
The sources noted that the Tor-M2DT units have met all combat tasks and demonstrated strong effectiveness in the field.
TASS has not received official confirmation on these claims.
Previously, reports indicated that the Tor air defense system was undergoing modernization to better counter evolving drone threats. Russian air defense setups are noted for reliable performance at short ranges and lower altitudes, while Almaz-Antey continues development work on further improvements.
Engineers aim to enhance target accuracy against low-scatter or low-signal environments, reflecting ongoing efforts to tighten engagement capabilities across the system family.
