Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod Region, reported via his telegraph channel that a rocket crashed near the village of Kaznacheevka. The official statement makes it clear that the air defense system intercepted the incoming missile over that village, preventing greater damage and loss of life, though some infrastructure suffered as a result of the incident.
An immediate assessment showed that no injuries were reported, but a power line was damaged during the event. According to Gladkov’s update, four populated areas experienced outages: parts of Kaznacheevka and Kazinka, along with the agricultural facilities at Leonovka and Mikhailovka. Emergency crews have been dispatched to the scene to restore electricity by reconnecting these settlements to a temporary backup power source while permanent repairs are organized.
The governor stated that repair work was expected to be completed by 24:00 local time, signaling a swift turnaround once the power supply teams get back online with the backup system. This timeframe points to a well-coordinated response aimed at minimizing disruption for residents and businesses in the affected zones.
Earlier in the day, Gladkov confirmed that he oversees the construction of defensive structures along the border with Ukraine. He stressed that progress on the fortifications continues according to the predetermined schedule, with workers following established milestones to strengthen the region’s security posture in the face of ongoing tensions in the border area.
Since December 21, the Belgorod region has been under a heightened level of alert, categorized as a yellow terrorist threat. The designation has been extended several times, reflecting ongoing concerns about potential threats and the need for heightened vigilance among local authorities and residents alike. The regional leadership continues to monitor the situation closely, balancing protective measures with daily life and economic stability for communities near the border.
