The Tax Administration marks the close of the income campaign, with most of the preliminary tasks completed. The latest balance sheet from the public agency shows that a large majority of taxpayers are seeing refunds return, despite a higher overall number of refunds this year. Money has already been deposited into many accounts.

During the campaign that ended last week, a total of 894,127 people in Alicante completed the process, an increase of nearly 45,000 compared with the prior period, up 5.26 percent and well above the national average rise of 3.88 percent. This figure stands as the highest on record for the province. A total of 569,851 residents claimed refunds, with 460,739 people—about 80.85 percent—having already received income corresponding to the Treasury. The overall refunds amount to €382.8 million, of which €268.3 million has already been paid to subscribers, about 70 percent according to sources.

It is noted that a resident can prepare the income statement independently.

At the close of the campaign, the Tax Office reported a year‑over‑year increase of roughly 13.99 percent in refunds processed, with a 18.69 percent rise in the total cash amount returned. The remaining 20 percent are expected to receive Treasury money orders in the coming weeks, unless the Administration requests further documentation or clarification.

Reasons why around 13,000 Alicante residents have not yet received their rent refund

In cases where a refund has not arrived within a year without a clear reason—an unusual scenario—the affected individuals may be entitled to apply for default interest six months after the campaign ends.
