Stellantis and Archer Aviation have joined forces to advance the Midnight eVTOL, a flagship electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. Carlos Tavares announced that Archer will construct a manufacturing facility in Covington, Georgia, where Midnight production is slated to begin in 2024. Stellantis will mass‑produce the aircraft as its own private manufacturing program and will invest 150 million dollars (approximately 141.2 million euros at current rates).
The Midnight model supports a payload of more than 453 kilograms, enabling four passengers and a pilot. With a 100‑mile range and the ability to complete consecutive 20‑mile trips, it is designed for rapid turnarounds, aided by a roughly 10‑minute recharge between flights.
“This exclusive collaboration in urban air mobility leverages the strengths and competencies of both companies to bring the Midnight aircraft to market”, stated Stellantis.

Archer will contribute the eVTOL team, electric powertrain development, and certification expertise to the program. Stellantis will provide advanced manufacturing technology, experienced personnel, and capital. Both companies emphasized that the alliance aims to accelerate production capacity to meet Archer’s commercialization timeline and to sharpen Archer’s market rollout strategy.
social capital
As a mark of its commitment, Stellantis will supply a 150 million dollar equity stake, enabling Archer to retire that amount in 2023 and 2024 at Archer’s discretion, contingent on achieving defined business milestones expected in 2023. Stellantis also intends to increase its ownership through future open‑market stock purchases. Together, these actions position Stellantis as a major, long‑term investor in Archer.
“We have collaborated closely with Archer for two years and I am consistently impressed by your creativity and unwavering delivery,” Tavares said.
