A young person’s family in the Belones area reported a brutal incident to the Civil Guard in Cartagena. The minor was beaten by at least three other teenagers, who struck his head, kicked him, and punched him. Cell phone videos captured parts of the assault, and sources close to the investigation confirm the recordings exist and are in the possession of the Benemérita.

Relatives of the 15-year-old victim filed a complaint after learning of what happened and the family went to the Cabo de Palos barracks to report the incident. The investigators handling the case are professionals stationed at that barracks.

Although the brutal beating occurred late last month, no arrests have been announced. Information from sources close to the inquiry indicates the victim was lured away from the city and taken toward the Islas Menores road, where his attackers waited. To facilitate the plan, they reportedly coordinated with a girl who allegedly cooperated with the group to lure the teenager to a secluded location. Upon arrival, violence erupted. The incident was witnessed by several bystanders who, at times, applauded or recorded the events, some of which have been recovered by authorities.

Investigators at the Cabo de Palos barracks remain reviewing the clips and have not made arrests yet.

During the assault, the attackers cornered the minor and unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks to the head. Several witnesses captured portions of the event on their mobile devices. One bystander showed compassion and helped the victim, guiding him home while the teenager remained conscious.

Victim retreats from visibility

Arriving home, the victim chose to retreat to his room, shielding his injuries from relatives for as long as possible. The following day his mother found him in distress and noticed the injuries consistent with a serious assault. He then disclosed what happened, and she filed a formal report with authorities.

Regarding the motive for the beating, sources close to the case suggest it may have been retaliation, possibly tied to an insult directed at one of the attackers’ fathers. This hypothesis has not been officially confirmed.

When reached for comment, the District Civil Guard confirmed an open investigation. The inquiry is examining three individuals believed to be the primary authors of the attack and ongoing work is underway to identify them. At the moment, no arrests have been made.

Belones neighbors report that the suspects appear to be between 14 and 15 years old and may form part of a youth group with a tendency toward violence. They caution that this incident did not stand alone and indicate past episodes involving the same group have occurred.
