In the early hours of Tuesday, at least three Palestinian civilians were killed and 19 were injured as live rounds were fired during an Israeli Army operation in Nablus, located in the northern West Bank. The Red Crescent’s Nablus Emergency Director Ahmed Jibril reported that 22 people received medical care from responders, with three fatalities and 19 injuries. The injured were transported to several nearby hospitals. Three of the victims remained in serious condition, per Wafa, the Palestinian news agency.
Wafa described the Israeli Defense Forces assault as an operation in multiple neighborhoods within the Old City following a bombardment. Gunfire and explosions were heard, and Israeli soldiers reportedly received reinforcements supported by drones. The report also claimed that Palestinian security forces were deliberately fired upon and that emergency crews faced obstructions while moving the wounded.
The IDF stated at midnight that it was conducting an operation in Nablus but did not provide additional details. These Israeli actions followed the activities of a newer Palestinian armed group known as Lion’s Den, which operates mainly in the West Bank and is accused of carrying out attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. The group condemned the death of one of its high-ranking leaders, Tamer Kilani, which occurred during a sticky bomb incident on a motorcycle in an Israeli operation.
emergency response
Earlier on Tuesday, Palestinian officials warned of further alleged crimes by Israeli soldiers and called for an end to attacks on civilians. The Palestinian Council of Ministers urged the United Nations and international human rights organizations to intervene urgently to stop the aggression, noting the occupation forces were using anti armor missiles and drones against civilians in their homes, according to Wafa. The statement also noted that recent attacks on the besieged city of Nablus had resulted in three deaths and multiple injuries.
Palestinian presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeina confirmed from the presidency that urgent contacts were being established to halt the aggression. Abu Rudeina described the Nablus attack as a war crime and blamed the Jerusalem government for the consequences of the operation.
President Mahmoud Abbas emphasized that the current situation resembles an apartheid state and criticized the international community led by the United States for applying double standards. He urged immediate intervention to stop the aggression and to end the occupation before the situation grew more dangerous than anticipated by Israel and the United States, according to his spokesman.
