In the afternoon, a man was entrusted with caring for a girl, while the girl’s father stayed home, arriving late. The girl could not have imagined that during the night she would wake startled by a man attempting to pull down her pants. The incident involved a sexual assault that led to the girl’s death custody status for the alleged perpetrator in Zaragoza.
Investigators are examining several facts. The Family and Women Unit of the local police in Aragon is handling the case, and the 16-year-old victim disclosed details to a friend’s mother after the events. The child reported feeling afraid to tell the police or her father, a fear she later admitted to investigators. A formal complaint was eventually filed to move the case forward.
As reports have described, the young woman recounted that the day had passed normally until evening, when she and her family traveled toward their home in Zaragoza’s Oliver neighborhood. The plan was that if the husband arrived late, the mother could bring the girl to stay the night at home. The teenager was asleep when she awoke around 12:30 on the night of November 25 to a sense of pressure. It was then alleged that the girl’s father had lowered his pants and attempted a sexual assault.
She resisted with effort, and at times managed to force him to pause, yet she did not escape. Investigators noted that the man claimed he needed to immobilize and assault her. At one point she managed to flee to a room with a lock, calling out for him to leave. By the time the girl’s mother and the man’s wife arrived, the accused had left the house the next morning. It is alleged that the suspect harassed and threatened the girl throughout the night.
On the basis of these events, the 30-year-old suspect, identified as JAGF and reported to be of Nicaraguan origin, was arrested and taken to the Investigation Court No. 5 in Zaragoza. He faced provisional detention as the case proceeds through the legal process.
