The Civil Guard apprehended a man from Ribaroja in Valencia during a traffic checkpoint in Castalla. A substantial quantity of methamphetamine, weighing 24 kilograms, was discovered in the trunk of the vehicle. The individual was charged with a crime against public health for trafficking drugs.
In a decision issued by the Court of First Instance and Instruction, the detainee was released with a provisional precautionary measure on November 15 after undergoing drug and alcohol testing. The incident occurred as patrol teams from the Alcoy Traffic Detachment, operating under the CV-8152 jurisdiction of Castalla, stopped a vehicle along that road.
Following the driver’s document check, authorities uncovered ongoing irregularities that suggested legal proceedings were already active. An arrest warrant from a Valencia court was in effect, prompting immediate action by the Castalla Civil Guard to manage subsequent steps on site.
During the vehicle inspection, officers discovered 16 bags of an unidentified substance stored in the trunk. Subsequent analysis and weighing established that the seized material was methamphetamine, totaling 24 kilograms. The vehicle implicated in the operation was also seized as part of the procedure.
At the scene, the driver was detained due to a court order linked to a crime against public health related to drug trafficking. The 45-year-old resident of Ribarroja had a prior record involving drug trafficking. He was placed at the disposal of the Ibi Court of First Instance and Inquiry. He was ultimately released with a precautionary measure. (Citation: Civil Guard press release)
