Strong Group and the magical Costa Blanca confirmed the purchase of the Marina d’Or tourist complex in Orpesa by the American investment fund Farallon Capital Management, according to INFORMACIÓN.

The two parties will join forces to restart the project under a new tourism concept and position it among the top holiday destinations in Europe.

The operation is currently under review by the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) and awaits approval from the relevant authority. Grupo Fuertes and Magic Costa Blanca Garrigues and Rosillo Rein served as legal and real estate advisers, respectively.

Early closure of the season

The purchase information first reported last August is now confirmed. On September 17, the Marina d’Or complex unexpectedly shut down all hotels and the spa. In a preview of the end of the so‑called Holiday City season, bookings were canceled and customers were notified by phone or email.

Initially, the Marina d’Or operation was planned to run through December, but the company chose to close the season early without stating reasons or tying the shutdown to the acquisition. It is now clear that this will be the first decision taken at the Orpesa complex as part of the process with the American fund Farallon Capital Management. Jesús Ger, founder of Marina d’Or, had previously sold the property to the fund.
