National Police agents arrested two suspects after a violent incident in Madrid. They attacked a man and sprayed a fire extinguisher in his face to steal about 6,000 euros in cash, a Madrid Police Superior Headquarters spokesperson told Europa Press.

The events occurred on July 30 in Madrid’s Puente de Vallecas district. Two hooded men confronted the victim, knocked him to the ground, and conspired to deceive him by promising to buy a car engine through a popular second-hand app.

When the man arrived with the money, he believed the deal was real. The assailants struck his face with a fire extinguisher, seized a backpack containing cash and a gold necklace, and fled the scene in a vehicle.

Following an investigation led by the police, the identities and locations of the two perpetrators were determined. The suspects, detained yesterday on charges of violent theft, were subsequently brought to the courthouse.

One of the arrestees, according to police sources, is Ramón Santiago J., 36, who was involved in a notorious case as a teenager. A young woman with a mental disability, Sandra Palo, and José Ramón MM, also aged 17 at the time, were linked to a brutal murder that later earned them long sentences. Both were released in 2012 after serving part of their terms.

The other two suspects are Francisco Javier AL, known as El Malaguita, who was 18 years and three months old at the time of the crimes and was tried as a minor, receiving a 64-year sentence that remains ongoing. The fourth individual is Rafale GF, nicknamed Rafita, who was 14 when the murder occurred. He spent four years in a youth facility and later faced multiple robberies and other property crimes, resulting in several arrests.

The person currently detained has an extensive criminal record, including numerous offenses against property and public health after leaving the detention center. A younger associate reportedly has eight similar cases. Ramón Santiago is also active in the music scene, writing and performing rap under the pseudonym Zuni.
