An alleged victim of the attack, a young Moroccan resident in Catral named Noureddine Bouhou, aged 22, had been missing for eight months. From early on, investigators suspected a fatal event in the exchange of gunfire on Christmas Eve at the Aspe chalet where fighting occurred. A family later discovered human skeletal remains near a dirt road along a reservoir area in Novelda’s Horna Baja district. Noureddin reportedly drove away in his vehicle with two acquaintances. Before entering the chalet on the morning of April 25 the previous year, they encountered three other men of Arab descent nearby. Information collected by the Civil Guard indicates that five individuals entered the chalet while a sixth person outside heard shouting followed by at least five gunshots.
