A woman who endured captivity for fourteen years appeared at a closed hearing in a Chelyabinsk court. Local news outlet 74.ru reported on the proceedings.
The case centers on Vladimir Cheskidov, a resident of a village named Smolino, who investigators say kept a woman confined in his home and subjected her to sexual violence over a long period.
According to broadcast reporters, the victim entered the courtroom while the defendant was brought in. During the hearing, the man asserted that he did not participate in any wrongdoing.
Cheskidov arrived at the courthouse by ambulance. In court, he reiterated his denial, stating that he committed no crime and that the woman bore no guilt, even after it was announced that she would attend the session.
Authorities believe the woman was fourteen years old and held against her will at the suspect’s home. Prosecutors allege a prolonged pattern of sexual abuse, with the alleged assaults spanning years. The investigation has requested compulsory treatment for the defendant, arguing that he was suffering from mental illness at the time of the alleged crimes.
In a separate incident in the Krasnodar region, a car was stopped after a girl was found beaten, highlighting ongoing concerns about violence against young people in the country.
