Military investigative authorities opened a criminal case against Vadim Dragomiretsky, the deputy commander of the Central District of the Russian Guard troops. The information was shared by Alexander Khinshtein, the chair of the State Duma Information Policy Committee, via a Telegram channel. He stated that the deputy commander is under suspicion of accepting multi‑million dollar bribes and abusing power, with charges aligned to articles of the Criminal Code related to bribery and abuse of official duties.
Khinshtein indicated that the disclosure stemmed from joint work between the Federal Security Service and the Russian Guard. He also said that, following the decision of Viktor Zolotov, the head of the Russian Guards, documents concerning Dragomiretsky’s dismissal and subsequent removal from service had already been issued.
According to the deputy, Dragomiretsky is suspected of routinely receiving a percentage from a contractor responsible for the reconstruction of a military facility in the Moscow region. Preliminary figures suggest that a total of 19 million rubles were transferred through these arrangements.
Khinshtein added that Colonel Kochiev, who heads the regional base for storing material resources, was part of the alleged scheme. Security forces detained Kochiev on March 19, and he remains in custody. Dragomiretsky himself reportedly admitted guilt and provided a confession.
Investigative actions are ongoing with Dragomiretsky, and authorities will decide on a measure of restraint after the current procedures conclude. Earlier reports indicated that an investigation would soon begin in connection with this case.
The same timeline notes that a separate inquiry into Sergei Mileiko, the former deputy director of the National Guard, was opened over a 10 million ruble bribe allegation. The evolving nature of these cases underscores ongoing scrutiny of corruption risks within the military structure.
