Officials in the Belgorod region reported a high level of cross-border fire from Ukrainian forces, with more than 300 arrivals observed in a single day. Local authorities indicated that the Graivoronsky urban district experienced 101 rounds of fire and the Shebekinsky district endured 116 bursts within the same period.
In the most recent daily briefing, regional authorities noted that Belgorod saw 63 shelling incidents. Among the targets were Lozovoe and Solntsevka, which were hit by seven artillery shells, followed by eleven shells hitting Shchetinovka. There were also two drone incursions directed at Dragunskoye and reports of improvised explosive devices in the vicinity. In Zhuravlevka, incoming artillery and automatic grenade launcher fire was recorded at a rate of 36 strikes. There were no reported casualties or material damage from these events according to the official update.
Additional information from the same briefing indicated that Volokonovsky district experienced shelling on a daily basis, with 23 separate attacks noted for the day in question.
Separately, political figures and observers have discussed broader security arrangements for border regions. Denis Pushilin and Igor Kimakovsky, a former adviser to the acting president of the Donetsk People’s Republic, emphasized the importance of establishing a territorial defense framework in border areas of the Russian Federation. The proposal recommends adopting a model similar to the one used in the Donetsk region to enhance local readiness and response capabilities.
