AITEX Innovation and Research Center, various lines of research intended to develop New solutions for the fashion and footwear industry.
More sustainable alternative leather solutions (fungi, bacteria and vegetables)
AITEX focuses on developing value-added solutions for the textile industry as a result of the reuse of agro-food/forestry wastes and the use of 100% natural resources. To this end, the project is divided into two clearly differentiated parts:
- Biofabrication of leather-like materials from bacterial cellulose and raw materials and/or wastes found in our environment.
- Ways to extract new natural fibers those that come from invasive plants to obtain value-added textile materials.
On the other hand, the Center new biomaterials from micelle fibers It is obtained by fungal fermentation from selected wastes with better performance and lower environmental impact compared to existing petrochemical materials.
Lamination of sustainable materials
Textile substrates, biomaterials, foams, etc. lamination. also using sustainable adhesives. For this purpose, AITEX, lamination technology in a double panel system that allows the processing of flexible and rigid materials with a maximum thickness of 15 cm. The AITEX test facility is adapted to handle the application of hot melt adhesives in formats such as film, mesh, mesh, powder or pellets. AITEX has successfully analyzed the manufacturing process of sustainable backed materials using materials and adhesives with a low environmental impact.
New 3D knitting techniques for the footwear industry
Among the numerous technologies AITEX can use, 3D knitting technology. Its main purpose is to develop functional and sustainable fabrics for use in the footwear industry. In this way, it is intended to take advantage of this technology to influence the improvement of features such as: moisture management, thermal comfort, comfort and durability with the use of sustainable fibers and high performance. To this end, the following lines of action are recommended:
-
Development of textiles for shoes cut from sustainable fibers providing a high degree of comfort, convenience, resistance and aesthetics.
-
Development of high cut resistant cut shoe textiles for the safety industry.
It should be noted that in addition performance improvementThe use of this technology will enable the production of textiles that adapt to the cutting shape, which has reflections on the reduction of mold making and cutting processes on the one hand, and the reduction of textile wastes created by these processes on the other. includes processes.
