Some time ago my brother Salvador, who suffers from the complex day-to-day running of a business, expressed his concerns to me about the competitive situation we had in our industry at the time. Now I answered something I wanted to say to you: “Salva, we are the competition.” His story is mine, so he got it right away. All the brothers, along with Juan Ramón, Manuel and Pedro, had accomplished a lot by starting from scratch. The pride of employing 1,300 people today, starting with an abandoned bus on an empty lot 30 years ago. So if anyone had to worry, it wasn’t us.
Let me tell you now. Because it’s time to stop complaining and focus on solving our problems. We already know that in the province of Alicante we paint very little and they give us almost nothing. And now this?
We can turn our backs on whoever decides (call it Valencia, call it Madrid or whatever you want) and shout how badly they treated us in the desert. This attitude is pride on the outside and inferiority on the inside.
Or we can look directly at someone who is bigger than us, who is very clear that they need us, and who knows very well that cooperation contributes much more to this relationship than competition.
Do not be afraid. I don’t. Because I look around and see metal, tourism, toys, shoes, marble, farmers, trade, hotels, golf courses, transportation, construction, ice cream shops. , supermarkets, communication companies, technology companies, training centers, consultants. and liberal professionals… It’s impossible to feel fear in the face of so much effort, so much enthusiasm, and so much intelligence. They are CEV Alicante and it is an honor to represent them. He who does not understand the greatness of this union and the respect it deserves will not understand anything.
And for them, I will not waste time with the past, but will focus on our goals. For them, we will soon accept the Director General of Waters of the Ministry of Ecological Transition in Alicante. For them, the Mediterranean Corridor Commissioner of the Spanish Government will intervene in our board. For them, we will go to see the Secretary General for Infrastructures in Madrid, together with the Chamber of Commerce, the Public Works Federation and the Alicante Institute for Economic Research. For them, we’re coordinating companies’ efforts to revive the economy in Vall d’Ebo after the fire this summer. For them we will ensure that the Spanish Artificial Intelligence Agency is in Alicante.
We’re not going to do this to look for photos, and I really don’t care who comes out. It won’t be easy or fast. But I can assure you that we will do everything in our power to have the water, infrastructure and investment we deserve in our city. Judge us by results, not headlines.
Unity is not just a beautiful word. It is something that involves generosity and sacrifice. Something for businessmen and women of Alicante to achieve beyond any barrier. In Alicante we have accomplished a lot based on our efforts and with very little help. Let’s never forget this and let this be our strength. Because we are the competition.
