Joaquín Pérez, president of the Valencian Community Business Confederation (CEV) in Alicante, resorted to rigor, not “destructive criticism” to defend the interests of the province. It was during a board meeting, a forum where Alicante was also admitted to claiming to be the only candidate to host the AI Agency’s headquarters.
CEV Alicante met with the board of directors in Mercicante this Wednesday, where she was able to learn from its managing director, Dolores Mª Mejía, of the many services it offers to companies located in this business park to increase their competitiveness.
During the meeting, its president, Joaquín Pérez, presented the main actions initiated by the business confederation to defend the interests of the province, revolving around three main axes: water, infrastructure and investments.
On water, CEV President Alicante announced that on October 14, a conference was celebrated where Teodoro Estrela, Director-General of Water at the Ministry of Ecological Transition, will intervene to present and discuss state water planning for Alicante. and for the Valencian Community. The aim of the conference titled “Water and Economy”; a tight debate about water needstaking into account the water deficit situation and the future scenario based on the consequences of climate change.
Regarding infrastructure, a meeting is scheduled for October with Isabel Pardo de Vera, Minister of State for Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda. Advocating priority infrastructure decade for Alicanteand with the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, the Alicante Public Works Federation (FOPA) and the Alicante Institute for Economic Research (INECA). On the other hand, a meeting will be held with the managers of the OUIGO company so that they can explain the reasons for the delay in their operations with Alicante and reveal the economic and social strength of this connection.
Likewise, in the infrastructures section, a speech is planned for the next board meeting of the Spanish Government Mediterranean Corridor Commissioner, Josep Vicen Boira, to learn about the status of the project and to resolve any issues. There are doubts about this infrastructure and its Cantabrian connection.
CEV will urgently encourage business participation as a result of investments in Alicante to compete to become the headquarters of Spain’s AI Supervisory Agency and as a result of the consensus reached by political, business and university forces. in the group of experts created for the defense of the candidacy. It will also ask regional and local governments that Alicante be the only proposed center in the Valencian Community.
In other areas of interest, areas of work developed by CEV Alicante in collaboration with other organizations such as: An agreement with the University of Alicante for its students to do internships at CEV and its affiliated companies; open collaborative actions with the Alicante Health and Biomedical Research Institute (ISABIAL); Coordination of CEV’s working group on economic revitalization of the areas affected by the Vall d’Ebo fire, and finally a conference with the Federation, scheduled for October on startups and investment in Alicante. Finally, Joaquín Pérez said internally, “in this meeting where the business fabric of the province is represented, shoes, toys, commerce, tourism, golf courses, marble, agriculture, transportation….and they all show their support to me every day, because it is so obvious. here we defend the interests of Alicante”.
