Putin declares “partial mobilization” in Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Wednesday a “partial mobilization” of the population amid the war in Ukraine, where Russian forces have suffered several setbacks in recent weeks as a result of a series of counterattacks by Ukrainian troops.
The president announced that activities related to this mobilization will begin this Wednesday, emphasizing that only reservists will be called in, especially experienced ones, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
Putin’s announcement came in a speech earlier in the day after his statements, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, were delayed several times for unclear reasons.
