On Thursday, two women and an eight-month-old baby managed to save their lives. Fire thanks to the heroic response of an off-duty National Police officer. Hearing alarm cries from a neighbor of a building block on Cresta del Gallo street in San José de la Vega’s Murcian district, the agent didn’t hesitate to act.
“I heard the screams of a neighbor who warned that a family of Chinese descent had a home. (A resident of the area for eight years and a workplace on the ground floor of the building) was on fire,” said David Sánchez, national police officer of the state’s Citizens’ Security Brigade’s Citizen Attention Group.
“I had to forcibly break the door of the building and immediately climbed the stairs; when I got to the landing there was a lot of smoke, it was already quite an advanced fire and it was unbearable to stay there due to smoke inhalation, and the flames began to appear,” says the agent.
When the agent returned to the landing, the other woman, the mother-in-law of the baby’s mother, refused to come down and showed signs of wanting to re-enter the burning house. “We had to use force and take it. and quickly bring down three floors of the building because we were already at risk of fainting and exploding.”, states agent Sánchez, detailing that “a gas installation has recently been installed throughout the community.” This police also removed the windows of the stairwell to remove the smoke from the interior.
Sanitary services were also available, attended one of the women because of smoke inhalation and strong anxiety attacks was referred to the nearest hospital. With the intervention of the police in a short time, the mother and baby were treated at the scene and discharged.
“It’s always a pleasure to do your duty, but The important thing here is that there were no victims.and the only damage was the materials, and yet he remained calm,” said national police officer David Sánchez.
