Every day, letters from citizens come to Rospotrebnadzor with requests to deal with dangerous cases of “irradiation” with electromagnetic waves. Only a very small part of these letters (prone to zero) really testifies to a violation of the hygiene standard established in the Russian Federation.
Most of the letters are explained rather by the fear of invisible EM radiation.
However, as Andrei Guskov, deputy head of the sanitary inspection department of Rospotrebnadzor, said in an earlier interview with socialbites.ca, “There are organisms that are particularly sensitive to radiation. We get complaints from people who “feel” the electromagnetic field. Of course, a person does not have special receptors that make him feel it, but there is a certain group of sensitive people that we consider as well.
At the disposal of the editors of socialbites.ca were letters from three Russian cities, in which residents claimed that they were exposed to radiation from various sources. We have to hide the applicants’ names and the names of cities. But the essence of the letters will be indicated unchanged. The comments of the specialist, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Stepan Andreev and the response of Rospotrebnadzor will be attached to the letters.
In a whirlwind of torsion fields
Residents of the city of N claim in their letters that from 2 to 5 in the morning there was a monotonous low-frequency noise in their apartments and entrances. It interferes with normal sleep and rest. Previous checks yielded nothing as they tried to measure this hum level during the day when the human ear did not pick up. According to the tenants who wrote the letter, the devices are not available for such measurements. Also, during the commission, the tenants (owners of a store with refrigeration equipment) were warned in advance.
The main thing is that “this noise or hum is similar to torsion radiation – the radiation of electromagnetic waves with the rotation given to them. In the letter, this radiation tends to freely penetrate the premises and affect a person’s subconscious, thereby spoiling his health.
According to the applicants of Rospotrebnadzor, this disappointing situation was due to technically incorrect installation of electrical equipment at this entrance. In addition, the house has a low energy efficiency class “F”.
Torsion fields are one of the very popular myths that arose in the “flashy nineties” to get budget money from the army, Stepan Andreev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, told socialbites.ca.
“Although numerous “torsion field generators” have been made and sold, not a single experiment has confirmed their existence.
They allegedly cure many diseases, increase crop yields, reduce fuel consumption in cars, etc. With the help of torsion fields, it was planned to transmit information to submarines and apply telepathy. Still, the mathematical theory of torsion fields exists and belongs to Akimov and Shipov, but is rejected by the scientific community,” Andreev said.
Regarding torsion fields, Rospotrebnadzor “socialbites.ca” replied: “The existence of such fields has not been scientifically confirmed, that is, it has not been standardized in any way.”
In any case, Andreev believes that electromagnetic radiation and hypothetical torsion fields have nothing to do with the humming phenomenon.
The hum can indeed come from cooling equipment, which can produce vibration (low frequency sound waves) and can be heard when other sound sources are kept to a minimum. Also, if a shallow subway or tram tracks pass under the house, the vibration from them can also be felt. Andreev believes that sound can really cause many unpleasant sensations, but in no way affect the radiation.
As for the house with a low energy efficiency class “F”, according to GOST R 56295-2014 in force in Russia, there are five energy efficiency classes (A, B, C, D, E), depending on the situation. efficiency of using heat and electricity during operation. Andreev concludes that the letter “F” is not on this list.
corner kick
A tenant from a corner apartment of a house in another Russian city turns to Rospotrebnadzor because of the danger to his life and health, carried by two hanging cables rubbing against the corner of the house. He writes that both electric shock and exposure to harmful radiation are possible. “Long-term exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) increases the risk of developing cancer, cardiovascular disease, impairs reproductive function and contributes to depression. High-frequency electromagnetic fields lead to heating of body tissues.”
Doctor of Physics and Mathematical Sciences Stepan Andreev remembers this
the wall of the house is not made of metal, but of insulating materials (dielectrics) – that is, it cannot conduct current inside the house and therefore causes an electric shock.
“In principle, it is recommended to find out if these wires are connected to a power source? Andreev advises. “But even in the presence of voltage, these wires are not a source of radio waves of a significant amplitude that can cause heating of biological tissue,” says the expert.
Andreev also suggests remembering the basics of physics: “To generate radio waves, you need an antenna whose length is close to the wavelength of radiation. If the cable is not insulated (which is doubtful), it can act as an antenna that emits radio waves. However, in order for them to propagate efficiently, a special strong signal generator is needed. Otherwise, the radiation will be negligible. Another case: only the ends of the wires are open. Then, sparks must jump between them to produce radiation (electrical failure). The average breakdown voltage of air exceeds one kilovolt. And even in this case the efficiency of electromagnetic radiation generation will be low. This does not pose any danger to people, ”Andreev is sure.
In addition, the specialist recalls that the same wires are laid inside the walls – that is, they are located much closer to the tenant than those that hang from the corner of the house.
Regarding the method of laying the wiring outside the house, Rospotrebnadzor told socialbites.ca: “Sanitary norms and rules determine the regulatory levels of electromagnetic fields. Methods of laying cables in a building are not regulated in sanitary norms and rules.
threatening ordeals
Another complaint from a third Russian city concerns junction boxes of Internet service providers installed in the attic, attic and 5th floor, as well as in the basement of the house.
“Residents, both the installation of such cabinets (there is a risk of falling) and the impact on human health (magnetic waves, etc.)
Stepan Andreev recalls that the Internet is a low-current system, and the cables used to transmit such a signal (twisted pair) are insulated so that the signal does not deteriorate.
“Therefore, the wires themselves practically do not emit anything,” says Andreev. – Buzz often accompanies the operation of transformers, which reduce the voltage from the output (220 V) to the operating voltage of the devices (12 V). It does not pose a health hazard,” he said.
Rospotrebnadzor also noted that ventilation systems cause hum.
According to Andreev, a relay station (cell) for mobile communications and mobile Internet can pose a certain danger. But there are strict rules for placing such devices near residential premises. And there is no mention of that in the letter.
