The winner of the fourth season of the Leaders Russia management competition, the flagship project of the presidential platform Russia is a Land of Opportunities, Alexander Ochkov doubled the turnover of his company that produces premium upholstered furniture.
In the future, the entrepreneur plans to expand the product range and develop new markets in Russia.
“We achieved last year’s revenue in the first five months of 2022 and we plan to increase our turnover every year. On average, we send 30-35 orders per month and generate revenue of up to 9 million rubles. When we just started the production of upholstered furniture, these figures were ten times less, but since 2020 we are actively growing,” said Alexander Ochkov.
Alexander Ochkov, together with his partner and a team of 35 people, produces two rows of designer upholstered furniture: RU-SKY (from the Russian sky – from the Russian sky) in the premium segment and Jacob Design in the business class.
“We make everything necessary for a modern interior – modular sofas, beds, wall panels, poufs. Visually, the products of both brands are very similar to each other, but the latter is a bit more simplified. “We launched this series to meet the demand of customers who want a really nice sofa but can’t afford it at the RU-SKY price.”
A distinctive feature of Russian furniture produced by the Alexander Ochkov company is the highest quality materials.
“We position the brand as a premium brand, so products must be of appropriate quality, both in terms of style and materials. Our furniture consists of 90% Russian components. We only use imported fabric, because there is no material manufacturer in our market yet with the required quality and texture. Here we deal with either China or Israel, rarely with European brands. Everything else – the frame, the accessories, the padding, the technical fabrics are Russian made,” he said.
Alexander Ochkov, grandson of a military pilot, Hero of the USSR Alexander Medvedev – and his partner Ruslan Bulanov started their business in 2018. Initially, it was the first company in Russia to produce exclusive decor items and furniture from real aircraft parts – leather, wings, fuselage.
In the fourth season of the Leaders of Russia competition for managers, more than 57,000 applications were received from all over the country to participate in the Business and Industry track: 126 were the winners of the track, and 31 were among the winners of the competition.
